Pastoral Transition Update

A Season of Prayer, Discernment, and Faithfulness

We are committed to communicating regularly and providing clear information about leadership, ministry continuity, financial stewardship, prayer opportunities, and transition milestones. At the same time, personnel, legal, pastoral-care, and other sensitive matters require appropriate confidentiality. In those areas, we will communicate the process being followed without publicly sharing private details or unresolved accounts.

Leadership During the Transition

Many have asked questions regarding leadership responsibilities during this season.

Our governing documents provide a leadership structure during a pastoral vacancy. The Deacon Chairman and the chairmen of the Personnel, Finance, and Missions Committees have specific responsibilities outlined in the bylaws during this period. These leaders continue to meet, pray, seek counsel, and work together while maintaining ministry continuity and seeking the Lord's direction for the future.

Church leadership continues to seek appropriate legal, denominational, and pastoral counsel regarding our governing documents and the transition process.

Additional information regarding our governing documents and transition process will be posted here in the coming weeks.

Our Current Focus

Over the past several weeks, church leadership has received consistent counsel from experienced pastors, denominational leaders, and other trusted advisors:

  • Seek the Lord before making major decisions.
  • Remain grounded in God's Word.
  • Commit ourselves to prayer.
  • Pursue unity.
  • Continue caring for people.
  • Maintain ministry continuity.
  • Avoid rushing significant decisions.

While there are many questions about the future, our primary focus right now is not on building structures or making major changes. Our focus is on seeking the Lord together and faithfully continuing the ministry He has entrusted to us.

What Is Happening Right Now?

Church leadership continues to meet regularly.

Recent areas of focus have included:

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee continues to address personnel and transition matters consistent with the church's governing documents and confidentiality responsibilities.

Finance Committee

  • Giving trends and cash flow.
  • Ministry sustainability.
  • Ongoing financial planning and stewardship.
  • Supporting current ministry, missions, and operational needs during this season.

Deacon Body

  • Ministry continuity.
  • Leadership responsibilities during this season.
  • Prayer, communication, and transition planning.
  • Coordination of guest preachers and worship leadership.

Committee Leadership

  • Coordination between committees.
  • Ongoing ministry needs.
  • Future planning and support for the church family.
Church leadership has also sought counsel from the Florida Baptist Convention, Dr. Adam Greenway, and several pastors who have significant experience helping churches navigate seasons of transition.

Ministry Continues

Although much attention has understandably been focused on transition-related matters, ministry continues every week at SALT Church.

  • Worship services continue.
  • Student Ministry continues.
  • Preschool Ministry continues.
  • Adult discipleship opportunities continue.
  • Local and global missions continue.
  • Care ministry continues.
  • Prayer ministry continues.

We are grateful for the many volunteers, teachers, ministry leaders, deacons, committee members, and servants who continue caring for the people God has entrusted to our church family.

We are also thankful for those who continue to faithfully give as an act of worship, helping support the ministry, missions, and operating needs of the church during this season. Through your generosity, SALT Church continues to support ministry, missions, discipleship, worship, preschool, and care opportunities both within our church family and throughout our community.

How You Can Pray

We recognize that many members desire more frequent communication during this season. While some matters must remain confidential, we are committed to providing regular updates regarding leadership activity, ministry continuity, transition milestones, and opportunities for prayer. Join us on Wednesday nights at 6:30PM in room B100 for a time of prayer.

Please pray for:
  • Unity within our church family.
  • Wisdom for church leaders.
  • Those who have been hurt during this season.
  • Reconciliation where relationships have been strained.
  • Ongoing ministry effectiveness.
  • God's guidance regarding future leadership.
  • Humility and spiritual maturity throughout our church family.
