Let’s read & reflect with a prayerful heart the Gospel of Luke chapter 1, verses 57 – 66. This section highlights God’s faithful love to Zechariah and Elizabeth in the birth of their son, John.
PUT YOURSELF IN THE TEXT. What would it have been like to be there:
PAUSE & CONSIDER – When a child is born, the parents and family are filled with hopeful expectations of ‘what this child will become.’ (v.66) For some, their expectations are exceeded; for others, their hearts are disappointed in their life choices and direction.
“Become” is a good word to describe God’s gracious process of making us more and more like Jesus. So an introspective question to ask is: WHO AM I BECOMING?
PRAYER PROMPT: Father in heaven, I humbly ask you to make me to become more __________________. I love Your Son and trust in Your Spirit to bring needed transformation in me, for I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

- In what ways, am I becoming more like Jesus?
- Am I becoming more accepting? Forgiving? Patient? Kind?
